How many of you keep a journal? I am curious to know if the number of people keeping journals has stayed the same as we entered the digital era. Maybe some do it digitally.

I saw a lovely documentary yesterday called The Booksellers. I highly recommend it, it’s about the curious world of book collectors and how that world has changed in recent years with the advent of ebooks. It’s much more diverse now, and the nature of what and how collectors collect (not just books now) has shifted with the times. Fewer people are reading, it tells us. But I agree with the film that there continues to be a strong core of people in the world who love books. There is the tactile nature of them, and a sense that they are like living things. I love the feel of a book as I read it.

When I was a teen, I kept a journal, and did so into my twenties. Then I started a family and that ended that! But I have drawn continuously for most of my life, many of them in books. I guess those are visual journals. Today I started a new book for writing notes and ideas— it felt so great to hold it and write in it.

Another book cartoon that I had forgotten about. Enjoy!
