So, it’s back to school time, and of course I have to do a drawing about it. This one above was from last week. Kinda cynical, I know, but the book banning stuff we are hearing about is frightening. A little tid-bit: the name on that school in the drawing was the actual name of my elementary school.
Here is a back-to-school drawing from a few years ago, which was in The New Yorker. Not political, but one that I think we can all feel. Summer seemed to go on for ages when we were young, and then, BAM! —the reality of school!
The subject of school is ripe for drawings because we’ve all been there, either as kids or as parents…or even as teachers. It’s a complicated time for so many people, and so, full of humor. I remember getting new clothes and supplies and all, and being so excited, only to have it wear off in a week!
