According to CNN, Biden apparently is directing his campaign staff to “step up efforts,” to be even more aggressive and highlight the crazy “shit” Trump says in public, and to point out how unhinged and unfit he is for office. They also seek to remind voters of how bad the four years were under Trump. Kamala Harris is being featured front and center in campaign events, as well she should. In a report on CNN moments ago, a young voter who was interviewed complained that she’s tired of hearing from Democrats that “a vote for Biden is a vote against Trump,” insisting that she and other young voters want the Democrats to “earn” their votes.
I can’t even.
I have seen a lot of Presidential elections, and this one is about saving our democracy, period. Trump orchestrated his election in 2016 with the Russians, and is doing it again. If you think Biden is “too old” (don’t get me started…I am furious this is still in the news), look at all the good he has done, what a principled and honest man he is; then look at Vice President Harris and see how great she is. If Biden is unable to finish his term, she will continue doing his good work, and then some. And she will make history.
This story below out of Alabama demonstrates more of what is at stake. Trump will allow—rather enable— the radical religious right to continue to chip away at women’s rights. The Alabama Supreme Court has ruled that State law can consider frozen embryos as children. In a report from ABC News, Barbara Collura, CEO of RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association, “This ruling is stating that a fertilized egg, which is a clump of cells, is now a person. It really puts into question, the practice of IVF,” calling it a "terrifying development for the 1 in 6 people impacted by infertility" who need in-vitro fertilization. Yet another step by the religious right in trying to control women’s bodies.
I spent the morning drawing up my cartoons to send into The New Yorker, as usual. We all send in around 6-10 ideas on Tuesdays, this week I managed only 4. But they are four fabulous, fantastic cartoons (kidding)! I never know how they will be recieved. Lucky you, my subscribers, you get to see my rejects (like the one at the top of this post), as well as original work from time to time.
Here is my drawing in this week’s New Yorker!
Thanks for being here, see you tomorrow.
For the top cartoon:
She: "Forget about blaming the economy, honey."
He: “It must be the climate.”
Love the "forget about blaming the economy..." Can't believe the New Yorker didn't take it.
