A lot on my mind today. The last January 6th Committee hearing is this afternoon and I will be live drawing it, follow me on twitter for those…although I will post them here and on my Medium column afterwards.
I am terrified that Trump will win the presidency. I am worried for the midterms, that the Democrats will lose the House and the Senate and then everything will start falling apart.
We will lose our democracy.
There, I said it. How many of you are feeling it?
I think one of the things that continues to eat at me about all this is that so many people in our country are devoted to Trump. And then a large portion of legislators choose to support him and I know they aren’t dumb (some of them)—they do it out of political ambition. This saddens me a great deal.
I am sitting here trying to think of a drawing I could create TODAY that would express my fears. I keep remembering ones I did during his campaign for president.
Back when I drew the above, it seemed funny. We didn’t think he’d win. Now it is very clear that he is horribly real.
Okay, so I just drew the cartoon below. It’s not quite what I was going for, but I think it says something.
Do what you can, people. Starting with the mid-terms because he and his minions, his devotees, his crafty lawyers and political cronies will do whatever it takes to manipulate our election system, our judicial system, our voting rights, they will gerrymander more, lie over and over again in order to get their man back in office. They are already doing it, and if the GOP election denier Maga followers win big next month, it will be worse.
Vote-I will. Donate—I have. Volunteer, speak out. I am trying to. We have to protect our democracy at all costs.
This is not a dream, it is reality.
“Places, people! This is not a run-through.”
Sharing your concerns Liza. Our Democracy is in a fragile state.
