As I boarded the subway car this morning, I saw a man laying across four seats. My city brain did not detect any alert concerning his behavior; he was simply asleep. It was rush hour, 8am. Then I noticed a man sitting in a suitcase next to him. They weren’t together, I soon learned. Despite it being crowded, my arms kinda restricted, I had to draw them on my iPhone. I loved the visual juxtaposition of the two men. My persepective is a little off, but, I also felt self-conscious that the woman wedged next to me was watching. Excuses, excuses!
Here is the video.
I had a great day in my Master Class with the teachers for the Academy for Teachers, down at The New Yorker offices in the World Trade Center. They were so fun, smart, creative and we had a wonderful exchange. I learned a lot from them, and hope that my discussion of cartoons, The New Yorker and creative process was insightful and helpful for teaching in their classrooms. I have nothing but great respect for them. Photos to come!
Because of my early morning gig, I did not watch the GOP debate last night. Anyone watch it? It sounds like I didn’t miss much.
Have a great Thursday night. See you tomorrow.
Your seeing is magical.
Thank you Liza!!!
