One thing I love to do is draw in airports. I was at JFK this morning and had planned to draw someone before boarding. The problem was, I got to the airport with very little time to draw! But I got something, and I thought it might be fun to see all my attempts in this video below.
Standing in line waiting to board, at first I thought I’d try to capture this woman in the photo. I snapped the pic in case I wasn’t able to finish the drawing in time and could reference the color of her jacket. I liked the way she was at the edge of the wall. I am not sure what she was doing, except it appeared she may have been a security person—but I don’t know what she was guarding!
But then I realized I was in the wrong line, so had to hurry and move to the right line. I tried drawing another woman but aborted it soon after starting because I saw the woman I finally drew. Here is the video.
Just as I finished, our line started moving and I didn’t even properly finish the video, or put on my signature. It was fast moving line! I added my name when I got on the plane. It was all very exciting.
So quickly done, this sketch is almost abstract. The woman was buried in bags.
I hope you had a nice Friday! I am now in LA for a family gathering. The weather is beautiful, a lovely change from the wet and cold of NY for a few days!
I see this woman rushing to get to a seat with these rolling annoying things by her side finally calm crossing her legs then her flight is called !
So lovely — an airport illustration of a the one holding down the “fort”.
Because I laughed at this - I’ve been the mom left with the luggage too! I can hear the “We’ll be right back “ over their shoulders…
