Every now and then, I get insomnia. I don’t know if it is technically insomnia, but this morning, I woke up at 4:45 and was WIDE AWAKE.
Rather than just lie there and think, which leads to worry which is no fun, I got up and made coffee. Granted, last night I went to bed early-ish, but not so early that it made any difference. My whole day is out of wack now. I napped for 30 minutes but I still feel very out of sorts. Like this kitty above.
The cartoon below was done just after Labor Day while on the Jersey shore. I watched a bird fishing in the bay and wondered if she knew how beautiful she was. In drawing the cartoon, I was attempting to make fun of our culture and how we always take selfies, and have people snap our photo when we think we look good.
It’s absurd to think a crane would think like this.
I’m off to Ireland this evening to be a guest at a Cartoon Festival in Galway! So my insomnia weirdness will ease me into jet lag and I will be a mess tomorrow. A happy mess, however.

If you're free to range westerly from Galway, I highly recommend a ramble on the island of Inishbofin, where I saw sea foam rising along a cliff and looking like champagne bubbles flying through the air. My whole family stood there astonished.
