WIth the temps in NYC heading to around 100 degrees today, I had to share these two drawings.
I think I like doing cartoons about food vendors because for some reason they represent inginuity to me. And that’s one part as to why I love New York. People are creative, innovative, funny, and kind… I am sure you want to add some adjectives. But I am thinking of what’s good about this city!
As a cartoonist, one is always looking for cliches to bounce off of, and when the cliche has a sign on it, like a food vendor, you can play with that a lot. And then there is all of humanity walking by, and they can be part of the cartoon. So many options.
Both of these cartoons were published in The New Yorker.
Happy August, everyone.
Love this!
