You never know what will happen

Well that was an Academy Awards for the books. For a lot of reasons, sadly not the one we should be talking about. Troy Kotsur won best supporting actor, and the best picture went to Coda, a movie about members of a hearing impaired family. That’s newsworthy and important. But obviously the thing that happened that everyone’s talking about is Will Smith smacked Chris Rock onstage and yelled at him after he told a joke that involved Smith’s wife, Jada. To be honest, I hesitated to draw the violence, but knew that I had to. It’s what I do, visually report what I see. One year— and this is not violence— I drew Jennifer Lawrence falling on the steps as she walked up to the stage. What Smith did was wrong, and I drew his agression.
