A few days ago, I returned from a quick trip to New Orleans. It’s a city I’ve always wanted to visit, and it didn’t disappoint. So fun and beautiful. And the food!
I did only two live drawings. Mostly because the day I planned to wander and draw was too hot and the air quality too poor, I couldn’t stay outside for long. But here they are!
I was in New Orleans for a book event at a very unusual venue. Entrepreneur Jane Wolfe runs a literacy program at her restaurant, Melba’s, and it’s a wonderful thing, and she invited me to come down and be a part of what she does and I was honored to do so! Jane buys 100 copies of my book and gives them out to customers who come in. They also have a laundromat next door to the place to eat, and many folks are there to do their laundry. I meet and greet and sign and it’s so fun! The staff were a riot and very friendly, and I loved meeting a wide variety of people, some of whom probably can’t afford to buy a book.
Jane is a life long Louisiana resident and she and her husband do so much for the New Orleans community, and have for 30+ years. They are an inspiration.
And I ate my first poboy! It was delicious, thank you Melba’s!
This is great! (And I too love New Orleans. Hope to get back some day.) Cheers to you, Liza!
Thank you, LInda!
