Just look at the faces. So many different people!
A woman giving out water and cheesits.
A woman capturing it all. Or trying to.
Look at the faces, all there for their own reasons, but reasons we all share.
There was a feeling of joy, and anger.
The police were with us, integrated with the marchers, and at times on the sideline. Not hostile, just there if we needed them.
The volunteers were amazing in helping traffic get by, encouraging marchers, chanting with us, providing guidance.
The organizers had a few different lead chanters that rotated carrying the megaphone, each had different chants that the crowd would mimic. This guy was my favorite. No mean chants, just positive.
Fifth Avenue was simply packed with people, from curb to curb, for fifteen blocks, for over two hours and more and more joined during the course of the afternoon.
There were a lot of American flags. Taking back our country!
So many different types of people. Old, young, Black, White, Brown.
The lions of the New York Public Library watched over us.
There were a handful (literally and in number) of dogs. I saw no cats.
There were smiles. We are in this together, and it was felt.
And finally, a short video I took at the front of the march.
I love taking pictures of people! All the faces, just wonderful.
Have a good, restful Sunday. This week will be no less exhausting. Thank you again for being here.
Thank you for the wonderful pictures. Different locations emphasized different things. In central LA it was ICE. In New York it was stop the billionaires. We had “no kings since 1776” and DEMOCRACY OR DICTATORSHIP” signs. We can’t carry all the signs we care about. But they are all on our minds. To me the most obscene thing is what ICE is doing. It makes us angry enough to be ready to fight. We were in a conservative district, but I was amazed at the support we got from passing cars. There will be more people next time.
Oh, Goddess, thank you for this! All of these protests were so uplifting, so diverse, so creative, so inspiring. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing---thank you for all you do!
