Part of me just doesn’t want to talk about Elon Musk, but I feel I need to mention him because of what he did yesterday. He suspended at least 8 journalists’ accounts yesterday, suggesting they were providing “assasination coordinates” for his family, with no proof. He really does sound crazy. The EU is talking about sanctions now.
Speaking of crazy, Trump’s people rolled out trading cards of him as a super hero, astronaut, cowbody, lord knows what else. $99 each. Or a pack, I don’t know. The money goes directly to him. Even Steve Bannon called this nuts. Trump really thinks very little of his supporters, he’s already bilked them out of so much money. I will be curious to know how well these sell. I drew this sequential cartoon before his presidency because I did not understand his appeal. I understand a little more now, it’s frightening. But I think it’s over for him, we just have to be concerned about his followers, particularly those in Congress, and certain govenors of southern states (DeSantis).
Speaking of reality, or the lack thereof, cartoons often question our grasp on it. I think I drew this during the 2016 election:
And this one, probaby was drawn sometime during Trump’s presidency:
Let’s hope we continue to make stabs at operating in some form of reality, Biden is doing such a good job at helping us see straight. Fantasy and unreality are fine in the creative world and in your own home, like the guy in the cartoon at the top of this post. But politics? We’ve learned what it can do.
