Here are some drawings that did not make the cut at The New Yorker last week.
Contrary to the first cartoon, I do like parties. The second cartoon is somewhat autobiographical. The last two drawings are a little weird, but it’s good to try weird every now and then, it loosens you up and you never really know what they will buy!
In case you many not know this, we New Yorker cartoonists are not told what to draw, nor are we paid for everything we draw. It is a weekly lottery I enter, competing against regular cartoonists and new submissions. For a weekly spot of maybe 15 cartoons per issue. It’s nuts! I know. But you end up drawing a lot, and hopefully get better at what you do. I am in my 43nd year doing this!
