Happy summertime!
I am giving a talk tonight at The United Theater in Rhode Island about the history of the women cartoonists of The New Yorker. It’s always a joy to show audiences these women’s work and what I know about their lives. And, to be able say at the end of my talk that the numbers of women drawing cartoons for the magazine is now equal to the number of men—well, that’s a big joy, as well. There will come a time—which is pretty much here— when I don’t talk about this topic anymore at all, except in a historical context.
My history, Very Funny Ladies is on Amazon, but you can also order with your local independent bookstore. If you’d like a signed, personalized copy, my local bookstore has a page on their website where you can order from them and I will sign it to you, with a drawing! Oblong Books.
I hope you have a lovely Friday!
That duck is just the greatest!
Really enjoyed reading both your books.
Btw. Saw Barbie and laughed a lot and enjoyed the excellent visuals. Regardless of Mattel’s benefiting - it is a story that should be told and it was in great hands.
SPOILER: ending it so human Barbie goes ( I assume ) for birth control as one of her first activities as a fully autonomous woman was brilliant.
The Kens were silly - and sort of predictable - but so fun to watch.
Loved the 2001 opening.
