It’s that season again! Baseball!
I don’t follow any sport except baseball. I was a Senator’s fan as a child growing up in Washington, DC. My father used to take me to games. When I moved to NY after college, I became a Mets fan, then I happened to marry a Yankee fan. So, yes, I am a Yankee fan.
I was on the train yesterday, and a little girl lost her baseball, and I heard her mother ask another passenger if she could retreave it from under the seat. She was going to get it signed, I heard Mom say. I looked up and saw her whole family were wearing Yankee baseball caps. They were going to a game which was a few stops away. I asked the young girl who she was looking forward to seeing, and with a shy smile she said, Aaron Judge. I told her great choice, good luck and have fun! She reminded me of me at 7 years old: very excited to go to a baseball game with my father.
Speaking of marriage, a big wedding anniversary is coming up for me and Michael, and we decided to go to a game at Yankee Stadium. It’s an expensive endeavor, but I think 35 years of marriage is a good thing to throw money around for.
I will wear my Yankee hat, but I won’t have a ball or look for Aaron Judge to sign anything. I’ll just enjoy watching him do his thing. It’s still fun.
I have a zoom event coming up for paid subscribers, something I do every month. An hour of talk and I draw, then an hour of feedback for cartoonists/artists. New information about a date change below!
