I couldn’t think of a better thing to post today than drawing some dogs.
About an hour ago, I couldn’t get this post to go live— so I shared it on chat. But here it is now. Nothing works better than simply restarting your computer.
Of course, New Yorker artist and writer James Thurber was on my brain as I drew these, I just love how he draws dogs. Here below are some photos of dogs (and people) that he drew for publication and eventually were put on a scarf. The scarf was given to me last week by his granddaughter, Sara Thurber Sauers. I have a frame on order for it!
Thurber may be best known by many for his short story, The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty. But in our household, he is best known for his drawings. Particularly his drawings of dogs.
Happy Sunday! See you tomorrow.
Love Thurber dogs! As did my late father. When I see one, I think of his laughter. Thank you.
Wonderful gift.
