I love cats, don’t get me wrong. I have always had a cat or two in my life. But they have ruined many couches! Anyway, I thought this cartoon fit what I’m thinking about today.
Instead of a cat, I’d put Trump in the driver’s seat.
The Justice Department sent Donald Trump a target letter on Sunday, letting him know he will likely be indicted for his role leading up to the January 6th Insurrection. It will happen in a few days. Trump has used past indictments to raise money, and we will see if this potential charge, details of which we don’t know yet, will continue to help him in his run for the presidency.
“Shortly after disclosing that he'd received a target letter from the Justice Department, Donald Trump was using it to solicit campaign donations. “Please make a contribution to show that you will NEVER SURRENDER our country to tyranny as the Deep State things try to JAIL me for life,” he said in an email to supporters. Similar appeals have been successful: His joint fund-raising committee said it raised $4 million in the 24 hours after he was indicted in late March by New York prosecutors, and $6.6 million in the days after his indictment in June by the special counsel.” -from Rebecca Davis O’Brien for the NY Times
I keep trying to think of a drawing for this news. I drew a version of this below several months ago. Just now, however, I just gave Lady Justice a thought. It doesn’t quite work, because Justice is blind—at least we hope she is (I think with Jack Smith, she will be). How many times do we have to go after this guy— impeach and indict him— before we get justice?
He has ruined a lot of things, Mr. Trump has. And if he is elected, he and his GOP conspirators have plans to ruin much, much more. Trump and his allies are planning to increase presidential powers, here is a Times report on it. This would put far more authority in his hands, if he were to become president again. Trump in the driver’s seat again would possibly be the end of democracy as we have known it.
I find this extraordinarily frightening.
Sure. A cat with a great owner would be nice. Being a human is fraught with choices and none of which are currently Plesant.
Trump admires Putin and the way he runs Russia. He would like to become president so he could emulate him. In other words the U.S. dictator. Presidential powers would overcome any balance of power now now in place. The man/child is a dangerous egomaniac whose true wish is to become a dictator. He is to be feared.
