Today, one hundred and eleven GOP officials backed Harris for President. In a letter to the public, the signatories wrote that Trump is “unfit to serve.” They wrote that although they disagree with Harris on many issues, “Mr. Trump had demonstrated dangerous qualities.” Those include, “contempt for the norms of decent, ethical and lawful behavior.”
“As president,” the letter said, “he promoted daily chaos in government, praised our enemies and undermined our allies, politicized the military and disparaged our veterans, prioritized his personal interest above American interests and betrayed our values, democracy and this country’s founding documents.”
Why can’t more Republicans come out and say these things? We are less than two months from the election, we need more of them to speak up.
Speaking of the GOP, Sara Huckabee Sanders attacked Harris today for not having children, implying that because she did not biologically have kids, she is not “grounded.” How dare Sanders. I have been a feminist all my life, and by that I mean I believe in a woman’s rights to live her life as she so chooses. That means having kids, being a stay-at-home mom, working outside of the home, not having kids, adopting kids, not marrying, getting married, living with someone, being queer, being transgender female. Hearing a woman disparage another woman is heartbreaking. As Madeline Albright said many years ago, “There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t support women.”
CBS reported that a false claim that VP Harris was involved in a June 2011 hit-and-run incident that left a 13-year-old girl paralyzed was created by a Russian troll farm.
There were protests in front of the NY Times today, with signs that said, “Stop Sane-Washing Trump",” from the twitter account of Andrew Laufer, Esq. It alarms me how often the mainstream media does this.
The Teamsters said they will not endorse a presidential candidate, and that’s a blow to Harris, because by not endorsing her, they are creating an equivilancy. Apparently, the Teamsters are very divided. To me—and I know very little about Teamsters—it reflects a white male preference for Trump.
This kind of news worries me. It also shows how volitile all this is: last week, if you recall my writing, I felt Trumpism was waning. Now I’m not so sure.
Taylor Swift famously endorsed Harris after the debate; now George Clooney is getting back into a verbal feud with Trump, who can’t stand when celebs diss him. Clooney was on Jimmy Kimmel last night, and responding to Trump telling him to get out of politics, Clooney said,
“I will if he does. That’s a trade-off I’d do.”
I wonder who else could get under his skin with a Harris endorsement?
Does it matter?
Thanks for being here, see you tomorow.
As usual every word on point. After a weekend with the grandkids I’m more circumspect with my language, so I’ll just say Sarah huckleberry can F off.
It does matter. The more people, celebs, repugs, the guy next door, come out against him, the better. It might (from my lips to God's ears) make someone stop and think....well, maybe they ARE right; maybe he really shouldn't hold the highest office in the land. And maybe they might just change their minds. And I do hope the media will start/continue/ramp up recording his unintelligible ramblings. Why don't they ask the relevant questions: Do we want someone who can't put a sentence together holding the button to the nukes? Do we want a guy who idolizes our enemies to have this much power? Do we want to vote for a guy who told people to drink bleach and use florescent lights to cure Covid? Still, I must say he's doing a good job of refocusing our attention (as I keep saying) off the issues that matter and on these ridiculous conspiracy theories. Let's start looking more seriously into Project 25 and less into cats for dinner. P.S. My cats didn't believe it for a minute anyway.
