Speaker of the House Mike Johnson cut short the House session today to avoid an Epstein vote. The House will reconvene in September; this is clearly a stall tactic. Most members of Congress—Republican and Democrat— want the files to be released. This is outrageous and screams that Trump clearly does not want the files released; he is guilty of something, but we don’t know what.
There are so many pieces to this story, it’s mind boggling what is happening.
Today while speaking to reporters, Trump attacking President Obama. The NY Times writes: “President Trump deflected questions about the disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein by lashing out at his perceived enemies.” In the Oval Office, Trump went on a tirade and said,
“It’s time to go after people.”
He sounds more unhinged than ever.
Trump condemned questions about Epstein as “sort of a witch hunt,” and then launched into a rant against a now-familiar string of rivals and the media.
“The witch hunt that you should be talking about is they caught President Obama,” Trump said, referring to a report from Tulsi Gabbard, the director of national intelligence, that tried to undermine the eight-year-old assessment that Russia favored his election in 2016.
“Obama was trying to lead a coup. And it was with Hillary Clinton.”
This makes no sense. Calling Obama and Clinton treasonous is dangerous. People could get killed.
Michael and I were talking the other day about how the way this story is unraveling reminds us of the Watergate story, except much worse because women were horribly abused. I believe it will continue to slowly eek out, more and more people who have been involved with this decades-old Epstein horror story will share things, and the pressure on Trump will be massive.
But it’s unclear to me how it will explode. We need a Daniel Elsberg— a brave activist, an American patriot — to make copies of the files and share them with the press, as Elsberg did with the Pentagon Papers.
We can’t let this story go.
I am sad and angry at the powerful forces trying to pull the wool over people’s eyes, lying and deflecting and threatening. Sad at the way women have been treated, and how white men with power think they can get away with it. I’m sad that one man is tearing us apart, tearing down our good forces in a desire for more power and money. I think the legacy media gets it now, and a lot is being shared for the right reasons.
Speak up, and don’t lose hope. Thanks so much for being here, see you tomorrow. We have to stick together. I hope you have a good night.
They were not women. They were girls.
How does everything go in his favor no matter how many "i's" we dot and "t's" we cross? How has he gotten so many once principled people to help him? Honestly, the bad guys were always in the minority. How has this gotten so out of control? I am beyond frustrated, disappointed, and sad.
