As it appears Trump is having issues, what we are looking at in this election is either a vote for Kamala Harris or a vote for JD Vance. Trump may not last very long, judging by recent performances at interviews and rallies, and add to that he has never been a healthy person from what we know. He refuses to release his medical records. He’s 78 years old—which can be young in some people. But looking at Trump, listening to him, he’s not a young 78.
I highly recommend reading Heather Cox Richardson’s piece today in which she outlines what Vance is up to. Vance, Musk and venture capitalist Peter Thiel want to rid our country of government as we know it and set up some system that involves tech compies. I don’t understand it (Heather explains it well, so read her post)—but it also involves Christian right beliefs. That I understand; in this extreme context it is a belief system involving lessening of women’s rights, abolishing homosexual and trans rights.
Trump did an interview with Bloomberg’s John Micklethwait at the Economic Club of Chicago. Micklethwaite would not let up on Trump, pushing back on erroneous things (lies) he’s said about the economy. Micklethwaite asked Trump if he knew what the “Trump trade” was, which he did not. Micklethwaite explained that “it’s very simple—people are betting that your policies would drive up debt, drive up interest rates and drive up inflation.” He continued, “you’re making all these promises, flooding the thing with giveaways—the latest is car loans—the Wall Street Journal, hardly a communist organization, has criticized you on this. You are running up enormous debt.”
“What does the Wall Street Journal know? They’ve been wrong about everything. So have you.” was Trump’s reply. He berrated the moderator a few times. When Trump is challanged, he gets mean.
Trump at another point, when discussing January 6th, said “we had a very peaceful transfer of power.” He’s conflating the January 6th insurrection with his leaving office a few weeks later. But he also hinted that “a lot of strange things happened on January sixth, people were let in by police, waved in, and some people didn’t get into trouble….” Trump is suggesting in his sneaking way that Jan 6 was something other than what we witnessed on television.
Both Vance and Trump are now claiming that the nation’s biggest enemies are not China or Russia, but “the enemy within,” i.e. the radical left like Chuck Schumer. Schumer is radical left?!
“I think the bigger problem is the enemy from within,” Trump said. “We have some very bad people. We have some sick people, radical left lunatics. And I think they’re the — and it should be easily handled by, if necessary, by National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military, because they can’t let that happen.”
This is a call for violence. Those who don’t agree with MAGA, who think differently, have other opinions and ideas, is an enemy. We know this is how Trump riles up his followers, and how this kind of talk led to the assault on the Capital.
On a happy note, Jimmy Carter, the 100 year old former President, got his wish and submitted his absentee ballot for Kamala Harris yesterday.
Early voting in Georgia has surpassed previous years in number of ballots cast. “Smashes first day record,” according to the Washington Post. I see this as a good sign for Harris.
Harris is doing an interview with Fox News, and meeting with anti-Trump Republicans in New Jersey. I did the drawing of her above as I listened to some of her remarks. I just wanted to draw something more positive today.
The second quote I chose for the drawing is a line of thought I love. We are the richest country on earth, it is our responsibility to help others.
There is too much good to be done.
I hope you all are well, see you tomorrow. Thanks for being here.

As you rightly point out, 'we're in this together'. It's time to stand back to back.
Liza, we know who the enemy within is. It's a tapeworm inside Trump's body that is devouring the mind he used to have and the liberal policies he used to endorse. Trump has become a hologram that his followers worship to the potential destruction of our great democracy.
