When asked about the upcoming debate during an interview at the Texas Tribune Festival yesterday, Liz Cheney said, “At every opportunity, Donald Trump gets to show the American people who he is. His running mate is doing the same.” She paused and thought, then said,
“This is my diplomatic way of putting it: they’re misogynistic pigs. And I think that will become clear.”
He will indeed do his best tomorrow to belittle Harris, but I don’t think he’s ever met such a well prepared female (or any gender, for that matter) debate partner. Harris will be ready. He already has lobbed a few of his favorite female insults towards her, that she’s ugly and stupid. He will try to make her look unpresidential. If you want a good recap of all the debates he has had with women, The NY Times has a good one. Like me, I am sure you unfortunately recall all of them, starting with the first woman he debated, Carly Fiorina in 2015, when he said: “Look at that face—why would anyone vote for that?” I did learn something new: Trump, who is 6’ tall, announced on social media that Kamala Harris, who is 5’4”, will not be allowed to stand on a box. Trump said that would be “a form of cheating.”
If you played a drinking game tomorrow night during the debate and took a shot every time he is sexist or misogynistic towards Harris, you’d get pretty drunk. But you may need a woman in the room to help you count, because sometimes his slurs are subtle, and often they are just in a tone.
He has had 78 year’s practice putting women down, abusing, harrassing, belittling, insulting and demeaning us.
It won’t be easy, but my hope is that tomorrow night at the debate Vice President Harris makes Donald Trump very uncomfortable. And makes a nation of women very proud.
I think she will.
Thanks for being here, have a good Monday, what’s left of it! I will be live-drawing tomorrow night, so stay tuned for that!
Finally, I thought I’d share this drawing from 2016. Back then, I put him in short pants because I consider him a schoolyard bully.
Love the drawing! Short pants are just right. He is, as Liz Cheney said, a misogynistic pic. I would only add he is also a misanthrope—he hates all people, but women the most. He is much worse off than anyone in the memory care division of my father’s facility (Dad is 95).
He is selfish and grasping, rapacious might be a better word. How does our system allow for someone like him who openly does business with our enemies? Who threatens our government? These are the rankings of a traitor.
I’m printing this and framing the first cartoon.
The others are chef’s kiss 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Love them, your words and your incredible skill, 💙
