The third day of Trump’s Manhattan Civil Trial is over for today, and they have indeed seated a jury of twelve Manhattanites, thanks to the efficiency of Judge Merchan. Tomorrow will be for picking the six alternates.
I took these quotes below from the NY Times reporters who were in the room. Of course, my drawings are made-up figures, I have no idea what the jurors look like.
One of the women was supposed to be seated yesterday, but came in today saying she felt her annonymity had been compromised. It’s scary— these jurors need to be not known because someone could try to influence them, or worse, an extreme Maga person could try to hurt them.
This person above reflects partially how I feel, except I really don’t know if I could be fair. To be perfectly honest. I don’t think I could be unbiased. But I love this process because I do believe that most Americans want to be fair, and understand the value of our judicial system.
If you missed my earlier post this morning, I drew the jurors as I imagined what they might be thinking.
It all fascinates me. As I drew these made up Manhattanites, I tried to imagine what they might be wearing. I probably don’t have enough black clothing in the drawings.
Thanks for being here, see you tomorrow.
The last cartoon is my all-time favorite Donnelly installation. I would like to buy a 4’ x 6’ poster of it for my wall!
Finally the important stuff!! “Did you see what she was wearing!?!”
