First off, they did not shake hands.
Last night’s debate was hard to watch. One man lied repeatedly with bombastic, arrogant statements, the other man stumbled with strong, ethical ideas.
Biden had some very good lines, but he delivered them too fast, sometimes stumbling over his words and in a raspy, weak, monotone voice. Even if the words were good, they had little impact. Trump made up so many things—including that he never said there are good people on both sides— it was alarming. Even more than usual. He tried to rewrite history abut the pandemic, January 6th, he blamed Biden for Oct 7th attack in Israel, and claimed Putin respects him. He painted our country as a nightmare, which I know was hard for Joe to hear because he loves our country so much. Every criticism lobbed at Trump was turned around and just thrown back at Biden. He said hateful things. Trump acts like a five year old spoiled child.
There were times when Trump said things so preposterous, you could see Joes’ face showing outrage, but then he didn’t respond with any force. Usually. A couple of times he did.
Were we holding up too high of a standard for Joe?
The pundits afterwards last night focused so much on Biden’s demeanor and the fact that he stumbled a few times, they failed to talk about how OUTRAGEOUS Trump’s lies were.
The evening made me worried and sad. I don’t want Joe to step aside. The idea of a Democrat who is louder and more vigorous taking on Trump is appealing. Is that what we’ve come to? I just think we might lose if Joe remains the nominee. He is such a good man, but apparently that’s not enough anymore. Even with a fantastic VP like Kamala, it might not beat Trump.
It’s hard to imagine that the debate prep for Biden was fantastic, and then he came on stage like he did last night. Who let him go forward with the debate, did no one tell him he was not up to the task? Or, as my stepmother says (shes’ a neurologist), maybe he had a stroke just hours before the debate.
No matter, it was not what the Democrats needed. Trump was horrible last night, with idiotic quips and lies, but Biden was unable to reassure us of his ability to govern.
I live drew it, but it was difficult to do.
What do you think? This was not the post I had hoped to write today.
Thanks for being here, see you tomorrow.
I watched President Biden in Raleigh today. He was on fire.🔥 Certainly boosted my spirits. Of course, much different venue/“moderators” and minus being attacked with rapid -fire ,bull @#$& lies. (Maybe why SCOTUS didn’t ban bump stocks🤔)
Here’s the link..It starts about 1:30.

Interesting Jay Kuo said when he read the actual transcripts, Biden comes off sounding fine while Trump sounded unhinged.

“You get knocked down, you get back up.” President Joseph R. Biden

I appreciate your depictions and especially your selected quotes. The mendacity of the guy who said he has a 'big heart' comes out in your drawing. I think he misspoke, though. I think he meant "Borg heart." The debate was painful to watch. I see today's New York Times headline sooo softly touches on Trump. Should have printed: "Lies", but chose a less accurate term. (After all, perhaps not EVERY word he said was a lie. He may have said a few "and" and "the" words in there.)
Thank you.
