Alito's wife is a piece of work. As I recall, during Alito's confirmation hearing in 2006, she would break down in tears and run out of the hearing room when Democrats suggested that her husband is a racist, which now in hindsight seems pretty spot on.

I just taught my 2 year old granddaughter:

Beans, beans the wonderful fruit.

The more you eat, the more you toot.

the more you toot, the better you feel.

So lets have beans for every meal.

She thinks its hilarious...

Beans! Perhaps the store's sign could have read Toot's Many Types of Legumes. It's nearly a ready made jingle. "The more you eat Toot's the better you feel!"

Liza you are so measured and thoughtful through all of this, sincerely thank you for that. We went through our “legumes phase” when our son was engaged to and was a vegetarian for a while. I learned to make lentil based hamburgers using a NYTimes cookbook recipe for something called lentil loaf- I have to check my battered copy - but it was a hit.

That sound delish. I do like lentils, and learned to make a yummy lentil soup. But I keep forgetting about them!

Particularly love the Alito drawing & the way he slumps away. “Take my wife—please!”

Thank you, LInda. I had trouble coming up with anything about him, and decided to just do a simple drawing. I am glad the mood came across. There was a lot in the recordings where his wife says she's going to put the flags up and he can't stop her, but then she said I will not put them up until he is "done with this nonsense"-- it seems like an odd marriage. Sadly, she seems not well.

"to return our country to a place of godliness.” Godly-people would never have sanctioned the storming of the Capitol, nor would they have lied about who won the election. Too funny about the flags. As keep saying, you can't make this stuff up. Great reporting.

Beans, beans, beans the more you eat the more you toot, the more you toot, the better you feel. So let’s eat beans for every meal! So goes the little song popular in Jr high. Did you ever sing it?😀

I discovered recently that when it comes to kidney health, particularly when something like diabetes affects it, the danger of kidney stones is much enhanced by eating---many forms of beans. Not to mention chocolate, rhubarb, spinach, and above all almonds. A healthy diet can be dangerous to your health.

I read your latest posts, learning and laughing with the cartoons. (I've been a bit behind.) Then, reading this post about older news, I became aware of a feeling that I was reading a letter from, or talking with, a friend - one who is wise, who is in the center of things, who can bend an ear over a cup of coffee and a bear claw. Thank you, Liza.

I am glad you feel that way, I feel very kindly towards my Seeing Things Community, you all are very generous, smart and funny. btw, I saw you wrote me last year about the gatherings, sorry I missed that! I am not particularly good with chat here, I need to get better at it! Hope to see you soon. Thank you again.
