"Could not load video" error.

Yes, I guess we all were. Alito went to the same school in New Jersey as my one-time singing teacher. "Our Sam", she called him.

I share your disappointment with the court. I always held it in very high regard and was fascinated with the workings of jurisprudence, that is waning.

Re video ,it works on iPad .

Between the Supreme Court’s decisions and the shady behavior of two of the Justices it is rapidly losing all respect and credibility. Makes me mad/sad.

Actually, there was nothing unethical or wrong about Justice Alito's behavior. In 2008 disclosure of such trips was not required, though the rule has since been changed. If you believe that he did something wrong, then you'd have to believe the same of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who visited Tel Aviv, Israel in 2018, where she was given a lifetime achievement award by the Genesis Prize Foundation. While in Israel, she was the guest of billionaire businessman Morris Kahn, who provided her with transportation, food and lodging. As it happens, Kahn had a patent-related case before the Supreme Court in 2017. He was handed a win when the Court declined to take the matter up.

I'm not accusing Justice Ginsburg of corruption, of course. She did nothing wrong. I am pointing out that there's a double standard in operation. I don't suppose I have to explain why that is.

Hmmm. Thanks for the context. So, in 2008 trips did not need to be reported. Well, at least that changed for the better.

Sure. But the Alito matter is kind of ridiculous. Does anybody really, I mean really, believe that a justice of the United States Supreme Court would sell out in exchange for a fishing trip? That’s just nuts.

Yes. Thomas and wife have proved it, Alito has added more evidence.

Well, if that’s really the case, where are the criminal charges?

With a congress bought and paid for by republican mega donors, who is there to bring charges-or even call for the SC to have a Code of Ethics?

Expand full comment
Thomas M Gregg's avatar

Well, Congress isn’t in the business of bringing federal criminal charges. The Justice Department does that.

And as it happens, the Supreme Court does have a code of ethics: The Code of Conduct for United States Judges.

Right on. Only Pinocchio was a boy, not a man. Geppetto understood he needed to teach him to be a good person, to be a person at all! Alito is actually scum. Please draw him as scum. 😅😳

Amazing how your drawing gets to the heart of the matter-without endless back-and-forth in the media and in the no-longer-hallowed halls of our legislative.branch of government.

Show much to love. It’s as if I were looking over your shoulder as you drew and painted. My sister was an artist, and I am still astounded at the ability to put shapes onto a page and make them come alive. The birds in the background were lovely too. And today’s drawing, right on.

I like how you think. I think that we know more about what goes on behind the scenes that we didn't used to have any access to, but I also think that there is increasing corruption everywhere, including in the Supreme Court.
