Absurd. “Under the 1864 territorial law, which went into effect 48 years before Arizona became a state, anyone who administers an abortion could face a mandatory prison sentence of two to five years.” Washington Post
I have wonder if this is perhaps tied to Trump’s recently taking a position that States can make reproductive law. Now he can point to these draconian policies as being a positive.
160 years ago… when it was called a “miscarriage” and the world was still flat. 😳 I’m so very tired of these knuckle-dragging id10ts. How is the rest of the world supposed to trust us with … anything … when these judges and lawmakers are this unserious?!? It’s embarrassing. Nothing less than a full general strike is gonna change most of this stuff. Vote, sure, but we voted OVERWHELMINGLY Ohio to stop gerrymandering, protect reproductive rights and they still DGAF! No matter what, these Republicans are going to keep marching forward, stomping on all our rights. The RAAAAAAGE rn…
So, I'm back from my writer's conference that featured Anna Quindlen, who said a bunch of her books that had nothing to do with anything controversial are banned in Florida. Now, I keep saying it, but I see the Handmaid's Tale all over this and it scares the B'Jeasus out of me. Still, I hope these cult followers will recognize a flim-flam-flop man now that he's going back on his stance. Now that he's trying to have his cake and eat it too by courting pro-choice voters saying let the states decide.... It's all too weird. So Andy Borowitz made me laugh when he wrote that the Bibles had to be recalled because they inadvertently contained nuclear codes. Yes, folks....this is the twilight zone.
In no way, shape, or form did the Arizona Supreme Court “turn back the clock” on women’s rights. The question before it was whether a law on the books is enforceable now that Roe v. Wade has been reversed. The obvious answer was yes. So now the question is whether the 1864 law is in line with the Arizona state constitution. In the meantime, the executive and legislative branches of state government are at liberty to repeal or modify the law. This is what is known as democratic accountability, and I was under the impression that progressives are the dauntless defenders of “our democracy.” But have they carved out an exception for abortion? If so, on what argument? What are the limits of “our democracy”?
Arizona -- my state -- has no shortage of stains. But like the rest of the country, most of the state supports the woman's right to choose. There is a major flaw in democracy that needs to be addressed. The people have been disenfranchised.

They are all interrelated. They’re goons. But not all stupid goons
It's amazing that so many people's mental evolution stops at age thirteen.
ugh.
My older sister who lives in AZ just told me their AG (a woman) that while she was in office no woman seeking an abortion will be interfered with.
Some solace
The office of Attorney General has been a target of the GOP for years.
Please vote blue for that office. For our rights.
The comic is perfect for this absurdity. Thank you!🙏🏻
Thank you.

So the AZ “justices” are now practicing Medicine without a license.
How can that be legal?
Seriously.

IT really is the twighlight zone, Allia. Incredible. Horrific. Hope you had fun at Erma's conference!!
It was the best ever, and what I needed at the time. Thanks for asking.
Yes, you did. Hope you're doing okay.

Why surprised? Did anybody think patriarchy would bow out graciously?

Amen, sister !
The. Voters in Arizona may well overturn this decision in November, I certainly hope so
Yes, hope so!
