Today, I wandered through a farmers market here in the Hudson Valley. I saw some stunning fruits and veggies, cheeses, honey, bread, free range everything, pastries, and lots of characters, too. They also had a klezmer band which was really fun.
But it was the “Artesianal Popsicles” stand that really caught my attention. Artesianal popsicles (that’s how they spelled it)? Micro batch? Crafters of Exceptional Frozen Dessert? Five dollars? And, to add to it all, the two guys selling the crafted popsicles looked a bit like car salesmen. They were popsicle salesmen, in fact.
I did not sample the popsicles. Maybe they are exceptional.
These have been around in Nashville, where I live part of the year, for a while. La Paletas are Mexican and there are full fruit and also fruit with cream. Unfortunately, the first authentic Mexican maker, the Paz family, closed their shop and distribution to many other shops when they decided to retire a few years ago. Many good ones but nothing like theirs. And FYI, not to be picky like the rabbit, but the word is spelled artisanal. Maybe if those car dealing looking guys have their sign misspelled, you could clue them in and get a free popsicle! I hope it is wonderful. 😋
Also, dessert, unless they were selling exceptional sand. 😊
