We're between dogs right now, and may stay that way for a while as we catch up on travel and other freedoms. Meanwhile, we're enjoying other people's dogs. If my wife's away, though, I really notice the emptiness of the house. A friend used to say "if anything ever happens to my husband, I'm going straight down to the pound to get another dog." And when he passed, she did. My wife - or I - will do the same.
We have two cats now, but we used to have dogs. We used to have five dogs and we fostered dogs too. Our pack of five help socialize the fosters. Most of our fosters were weaned puppies. We’d get them house trained, which made them easier to adopt. Right now, there are some life issues that argue against getting a dog. I miss dogs.
Not really, because we had five of our own that weren’t going anywhere. I know others who foster because they can’t make a years long commitment to owning a dog, and it’s harder for them to let go.
We have two cats, one of which might pass for a brontosaurus -- he’s very long, and lives in the past. We don’t travel a lot, yet when we go, we trade sitting services with our daughter, who lives nearby and has a kitty, too.
we have a dog who loves it that we work from home. After our kids grew up and moved out the dog we had then was old and didn't mind being home alone as much. Now we have a small 4 yr old rescue who would spend all-day every day napping in the lap of whoever's available.
We have an elder dog (small) who travels well but we can’t always take her places. I’ve written her a song recently; one of the verses is:
“I don’t like rainy days or cold temperatures, visits to the vet or pedicures
Or being left behind, are they EVER coming home?
I’m sure it’s been a week that I’ve been all alone!”
(In reality, it’s been two hours.)
So great! Thanks for sharing. We are dogless right now, I miss having one!
This is adorable!
I’m petless, and happy for that, so I can work long days at the office without feeling guilty and travel without having to arrange care.

I totally get that. We are without a dog right now, too. We have two cats, but there is nothing like a dog.
Love this!

That's so wonderful what you do. Is it hard sometimes to hand them over to a new owner?

I have always had cats! And now have two formerly ferel cats, one of whom imagines I'm a threat every time I walk in the room!
How would one keep a brontosaurus on a lead/leash🤞?
hahahahah. Good question! Special brontosaurus harness.
just train it to heel off the leash!
We don't have any brontosaurus either. Maybe someday....
