It’s Sunday, and I had intended to send you just a silly cartoon for today— and I do, it’s below. But first I want to remark on the inteview Trump gave yesterday in which he said the following:
“Your Secretary of State said that everyone here—citizens or non-citizens— deserve due process. Do you agree?”
“I don’t know, I’m not a lawyer.”
“The Fifth Amendement—-”
“It might say that, but to have a million, 2 million, 3 million trials, we have thousands of people, some murders, some drug dealers, some of the worst people on earth, some of the worst most dangerous people on earth, and I was elected to get them the hell out of here and the courts are holding me from doing it.”
“Even given those numbers you are talking about, don’t you need to uphold the Constitution of the United States?
“I don’t know, I have to respond by saying I have brilliant lawers who work for me an they are obviously going to follow what the Supreme Court said. What you said is not what I heard the Supreme Court say, they have a different interpretation.”
This man is such a weasle. He has spent all his life manipulating words to get around legalities. And it’s quite possible he doesn’t understand what this country is about, which we kinda suspect already. What’s newsworthy, really, is that he no longer tries to hide his ignorance/manipulation of facts. What I wish this NBC interviewer had done is press him more, corner him with the Constitution. He would get angry and call her nasty, maybe storm out. But that should be seen on camera.
Due process is not a matter of interpretation. Every person, EVERY PERSON, is innocent until proven guilty.
But the opposition, the American people, have very smart lawyers too. We will get him, I feel certain.
Try to have some fun today! I have been having great fun focusing on wonderful storytelling in series television over the past days. I’ll write about it soon and share all my drawings from my week with Apple TV with you.
Thanks for being here, see you tomorrow!
"Such a weasel." It does seem like there's a cartoon in that somewhere!
It is really too bad that the founders didn't include amongst the named reasons for impeachment "completely delusional" and "unable to comprehend the constitution."
