A few newsletters ago, I said how much I liked drawing people dancing, so I did a video of that moments ago. What is that about? Joy? Abandon? Stress relief? The odd things people do? As a cartoonist, it’s my job to notice those things. You have to admit that dancing is odd, but yet it is also very human and very fun. In dancing, we express ourselves and we connect with others.
I love the dancing toons. Reminds me of a visit to Ireland where I danced and danced and the next day could hardly get out of the bed. Wouldn't have been a problem except I had to fly home the next day.... eight hours in the plane. God bless Advil. Happy Mew Year to all.
Dancing seems to free the inner spirt as your cartoons so aptly show. Love the dancers and plan on dancing on NYE. Probably dressed. LOL at your drawing!
Brings me back to the dance lessons we were made to take at school... the Waltz 1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2-3... like learning a song staccato and then the moment when the dance became a single impulse and the counting ceased... square dancing, I have no idea why we learned but it came in handy on a few occasions of adulthood (no, a story about that will not be forthcoming 😳🤭)
This dancing sketch - which to me is full of movement and music - strikes me as the adult version of the dance scene in “A Charley Brown Christmas” from 1965 when I was a senior in high school. Now that I’m truly senior, it’s especially delightful to entertain the image of my wife (of 55 years) and me dancing with this degree of play and abandon.
Lovely. Delightful. Joyful. Gay. Free...
Thanks.
🙏 Liza! These dancers are hilarious. Especially when I think about how seriously we all took ourselves on the dance floor as teens 🤣
Omg yes
Totally!! hahahahaha
I just watched the video through and loved the entire process and spirit of it. Your dancers come alive!
Thank you, Patris!
Delightful and compelling demonstration of ‘less is more’.
thank you!

Haha! I want to go to Ireland and dance!
Great video. The facial expressions are so simple -- and telling. Thanks.

What a great idea! Let's all dance like that into '24!!!
Exactly what I needed to see today. Bravo and thank you!
The final cartoon of the dancers is terrific. Makes me want to dance (at 76).
Amazing. You don’t make one unnecessary pen stroke.
well.... Thank you!

My mistake: It’s “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
That was my favorite growing up! I could not wait every year for it to come on tv! Thank you for that memory. And Snoopy's dancing!!!
