It’s December 1st, and we dive headfirst into Hannukkah and Christmas. Folks go nuts with gift buying (some in August, see above). But hopefully, it is a lovely time for friends and family.
I’m sorry this post is so short. I just got back from giving a talk to Vassar students. They are wonderful, many stayed afterwards and we discussed humor, media, gender, comedy, creativity and more.
A student who is an English major asked me about something Joan Didion wrote. He asked if I can relate to her idea of how (I’m paraphrasing), in the moment of creating, you grab things from your mind and put them down. It is sort of similar for me. I am a sponge and what I put on paper is a reflection of my inner mind and how the world around me is influencing me.
It was so interesting to talk to these young people and hear what their experience is.
More tomorrow. Thanks for being here! Happy Friday!
The holiday season always finds me betwixt and between and I find it exhausting. I want to say "enough...please let me off this merry-go-round of expectation that somehow we found ourselves in with this holiday".
But I don't know how to make that happen without all of us signing off on that.
