I love your humor and your drawings Liza! Do you ever do any ‘commissioned’ work? If so I’d like to talk about it!

Thank you so much. Yes, I do indeed do commissions! Let me know what you have in mind, I'd be happy to help.

Fabulous! I was thinking of a drawing from a photo of my wife and I together. Or something like that. Can you connect with me from the email in my profile? Or is there some other way?

How wonderful that those young people get to learn from and interact with a creative who’s both exceptional and living a life in art. What an inspiration you must be to them as you are to us.

I confess I loved the cartoon. I knew someone years ago who confessed she bought - and wrapped - her Christmas gifts in the summer. I judged. As an avowed idiot I remember thinking “what’s the fun in that???”

We grab things from here, there, and everywhere, and set them down. Creative people are thieves. We steal from our distinguished forebears, from our own pasts, and from the lives of others. It’s that great sin, “cultural appropriation,” but without it there would be no art, literature, music—nothing. Do you know what art, in its largest sense, really is? It’s the appropriation and recreation of the past. No artist summons the future.

The holiday season always finds me betwixt and between and I find it exhausting. I want to say "enough...please let me off this merry-go-round of expectation that somehow we found ourselves in with this holiday".

But I don't know how to make that happen without all of us signing off on that.

If there's one thing that most frequently gives me optimism, it's interacting with young people. I wish I did it more often!
