Dr. King wanted us all to get along, treat each other kindly and equally. He wanted peace. I grew up idolizing Dr. King. When he was assassinated, I was devastated and confused. I was young: the man, his message and his murder shaped who I became as an adult.
I was six years old. But I can clearly remember this. I grew up in the countryside when this all went on. There were no black families where I lived but our province was and still remains prejudice in many ways. Sorry to say. I didn’t grow up that way and was one of the few in my high school to share my gym locker with a black student. One of five in our school of 2500 Catholic students. Yes we were even segregated by religion then… so sad
Perfect, thank you!
I have never read the speech before and I thank you for posting it. I wish we had advanced farther than we have in the intervening 50 years! :-(
Ken
Yes, me too.
So lovely. Thank you. D

I guess we have come a long way, but not enough for sure.
