Excellent drawings and summary! One thing that stays with me is that we were charged with we can and must do as Americans to keep this amazing Democracy and never a mention of money… love and action, beautiful!
I’ve been staying up waiting for this to arrive. You never disappoint. Exciting night. Michelle was spot on. Gee Whiz she would be an excellent president. And my own delegate to congress, Stacey Plaskett of the United States Virgin Islands who spoke for us would also be great. She played a large role in the impeachment proceedings against the orange old guy. Thank you for helping make the a memorable event.
Liza, you've done it again. Drawings and quotations that illustrate the insights and profound messages delivered by each speaker. Michelle's was as powerful and heartfelt as any I've ever experienced in my 85 years, including voting for presidents 16 times. Your posts and drawings are refreshing. Thank you.
Great drawings and such great observations. Loved listening to Barack but it was Michelle who hit deepest. Everything she said. Everything. God bless her in her grief for her mother.
It was a moving night. The obamas are a dynamic duo and really were serious to warn people not get seduced by all the good vibes because it’s a tough fight. Wish I could vote. Enjoyed seeing it again through your eyes and drawings.
I have never watched a DNC before. Too shouty and performative (I thought). But I wanted to watch this one. And it is shouty, but also joyful. Michelle Obama's speech was the highlight for me. It was just radiantly wonderful. I adore her. Loved Barack's speech, too, as well as Hillary's. I watched part of the roll call and cheered when it was my state. This energy I feel reminds me of the women's march(es). Even though I'm not physically there at the convention, I feel the goodwill and hope. I'll be writing postcards encouraging voters to show up just like I did for the last election (and bugging my friends to make sure their voter registrations are current and that they make a plan to vote). When I was on twitter, someone wrote: "Hope needs legs." We don't just hold a good thought and pray. We have to DO something. (Thanks, Michelle!) <3
Thanks again, Liza, for memorializing this event with your comments and inimitable drawings. New York: I thought that was Spike Lee! About Michelle and Barack Obama: I've seen and heard Barack so many times, and hardly ever Michelle; maybe because of that, her speech sounded fresher, funnier, and more insightful. No offense at all to the former President: many times in the past, watching him speak, I would get teary-eyed, and say, "Once in a lifetime..." Now I'm hoping that soon, I'll be watching President (!) Harris, get teary-eyed again, and say, "Twice in a lifetime! Imagine that!"
Your illustrated take on the convention is perfect. You really sum up the heart of it all. so wonderful to see positive, national treasures on that stage after the republican convention, the ultimate downer.
Thank you Liza! Wonderful observations and depictions of the night. Such an electric convention! I stayed glued to the tv until after Barack Obama’s speech. I don’t want the convention to end! Can’t wait to watch again tonight and then to have your drawings to as a documentary…
You knocked it out of the park with this one, Liza! Everything summarized beautifully with your splendid drawings. Anytime I want to look back at the excitement we felt during Tues. evening, we have only to look at your perfect post! Thank YOU!
