I agree, education is the way forward for Afg. as much as roads and public services might be.

Both a heart-warming and tragic story. She is a marvel, as are all the girls. One of the great efforts the U.S. dropped when we abandoned Afghanistan, both supporting and protecting the schools. Well, I guess we had other things to do...blech!

Education is everything underpinning freedom.

Not just in Afghanistan but here and throughout the world

Brilliant drawing. Must have been hard to hear...what the women are going through.

There is so much oppression in the world, all fueled by fear of the oppressed if they are allowed to to be free and live up to their potentials. Love your drawings today.

When my daughter served with the 511th Military Police Company in Afghanistan, one of her unit’s missions was to provide security and support for schools that were being opened for girls. She told me how moving it was to witness the hunger for education that Afghan girls displayed, despite all the cultural pressures in the opposite direction. She was heartbroken when America’s abandonment of Afghanistan in 2021 threw all those gains away. My daughter feels, I think, that she put her life on the line to make good on a promise that was casually and heartlessly broken for no better reason than political convenience.
