Such an important message he was signaling- we value friendships, as we do down to the smallest community - alliances promising to come to the aid of one another. These are global communities who aspire to the cause of fellowship.

Does this mean Putin has abandoned his good friend Donald?

It crossed my mind that perhaps Putin is feeling he won’t be dealing with a Trump administration in November. I hope so.

Interesting. He's keeping his options open.

It’s the difference between playing chess and playing checkers - being able to see the complexity of relationships between unique elements that are constantly changing with every move. Biden is a champion political chess player. (Netanyahu is not)

The Biden Administration has done long and arduous work to accomplish this. I think Secretary Blinken deserves a great deal of credit along with President Biden. Given the lengthy negotiations, possibly VP Harris was involved. A truly wonderful day for the hostages and their families. LEADERSHIP!!

My FIL in Denmark … he’s 79 just this last Sunday … says the Ukraine war is going to eventually be settled by diplomacy, not war. He thinks if Harris wins in November, that war will end by Inauguration Day. I hope he’s right.

Wouldn't that be amazing?

Yeah… except he says what Americans don’t understand entirely is the depth and breadth of ethnic Russians in eastern Ukraine, in the Donbas region where ~40% of the residents identify as culturally and ethnically Russian. The majority doesn’t want to BE Russian, but there is a large contingent who also don’t want be Ukrainian. He thinks there will be a negotiation where they will be given the vote to be an autonomous state under Ukraine for … 50 years maybe and granted independence … much like Greenland was to Denmark… we’ll see, that’s just one thought. But absolutely can not give Putin any territory; I think that’s a dealbreaker.

It’s time for optimism Liza—we’ve been living with our hearts in our throats for too long. It feels as if a heavy dark veil has been lifted and a lightness is now prevailing. Without the weight of the election, Biden can now shine with wins in areas all across the administration. The great work that has been ongoing by the administration and the party is now able to be recognized.

So true. It's the major upside of Biden chosing not to run. He can focus on doing more great things. ANd setting the stage for Kamala to really shine.
