Later this year, once my cataracts have been vanquished, I may find your works less confusing. On first read, I thought the Pope was meeting a group of condoms.
What a joy to hear that at least two very somber-seeming people appreciate humor. I am positive there are many, many more- it is needed to make a little better sense of this crazy world. As for the Pope’s homophobic remarks, since he has been told the meaning of the word, but doesn’t seem to get it, his apologies seem disingenuous.
I have used the daily New Yorker calendar for years. I save my favorite cartoons, scan them, then send them out with my GOTV meeting notices here in Detroit. I figure everyone will open the email to at least look at the cartoons. So yes, Liza you and your cartoons are being repurposed in the fight for our democracy.
A great piece all around. Re the Pope my mother held him in high regard also. I was long gone from the family home but I remember my sister took my Mom to see the Pope in Philadelphia, it meant a lot to her as a Catholic educated, life long Catholic. Pope Francis seems a bit more progressive and I love the idea of having comedians visit the Vatican and recognizing the value of humor.
I do have problems with the Catholic church though and recall growing up in a religion that seemed focused more on Social Justice rather than the conservative political views of today.
Thank goodness for humor in these sometimes trying times. Thanks for a wonderful uplifting piece Liza!
What?! I am in awe of how fully you embrace, and how widely you share your special talent. I am fortunate to have discovered you. You continue to fascinate me. Thanks for helping make sense of a time that makes no sense.
In my agnostic-borderline-atheist opinion, Pope Francis is the best thing that has happened to the Catholic Church in centuries. "Laughter is the best medicine"! Thank you, Liza.

Thanks! There is/was a part of the Catholic church that was more about social justice. I suppose it still exists, but do we hear about it much?
Great photo! Have you ever met the Dalai Lama? He's hysterical 😁
No! But I hear he is!

Love the animation! Made me smile!
Perfect
I saw the article in the news and I wondered what the Pope thinks of Stephen Colbert’s jokes about the Church.
