Cydney Jones, I'm a 66 year old woman. I think we are going backwards. As a White woman who used to be married to a Black man, I have a different perspective than some other people do. It feels like things are getting worse for anyone who is not a White male on a daily basis.
Ruth Ann Harnisch, it seems to me that "guys" doesn't mean just males any more. I don't take offense when I'm in a group of people and someone says "hi, guys" or something like that. I say it myself sometimes. Our language is changing all of the time.
My programing is only four years newer than yours, Ruth Ann! I don't know why I use it for groups of people that are women or men or both. Without even thinking...interesting to ponder why. I have no idea.
Oh Liza, what a marvelous collection of your finest drawings celebrating the reality of being a woman, both the joy of sisterhood and plight at the hands of employers, some husbands, and males in general. Having coached women public speakers for 40 years, I wrote a short book to help women, especially political candidates, to give compelling speeches. It's: "Make Your Voice Heard," by me, Michael Buschmohle. Your voice rings loud and clear on behalf of all women.
love your things today. I hate to think what kind of man I was in my mid/late teens, but now with two adult daughters, a strong wife and many womef friends, proud to say I'm a supporter of women in every catertory.
I agree we still have a long way to go, and it seems we are going backward with Roe v Wade being overturned. Your cartoons are powerful. The history of where we are and have been as females, girls, mothers, coworkers, and women of all cultures is also a testament to our struggle to be seen, heard, and represented. I love that Lady Liberty is holding a symbol that represents a female with red, white, and blue. Also, a balance beam could be a teeter-totter, with the same number of men and women but clearly showing the power of women to show they have the power to provide the balance that is sorely needed in societies everywhere. Just think about the mother of any species! They protect their own from all enemies.
I could have died or been crushed many years ago when going out to the pasture to bring in a baby calf and the mom so she could be milked; well, my little puppy joined me. It just so happened this cow was named after me. She saw me, saw the puppy, and the next thing you know, I had her whole head in my hands, trying to push her away. I ran for it as I looked back at a ball of fur and dust, my puppy. He survived, and so did I. I have a granddaughter who has discovered that when you are being smothered or pestered by a male coworker when you tell them you need your space - well - what seemed like a nice person wasn't so lovely after all. She is learning harsh lessons about who she can trust and how vindictive males can be. I encouraged her to take care of herself and not worry about what others think. Stay strong, do your job, attend college classes, and show everyone what you are made of! We needed Kamala! 47 only sees women and others to see how he can use them. It doesn't matter if it is a man or a woman. If they are a narcissist - they will put themselves above even their children and family. It's sad to say I know a person like that. I can't help but think that all of the women in 47's cabinet were selected not because of their brains but because they would do his bidding - not stand up for what is right and good. They would tip the scales or fall off entirely in your first drawing.
Thank you for this post. We have all (women, that is) been effected by lack of equality both overtly and covertly, at work and at home, and in our treatment by businesses and their employees. I am in my 70's now, and though things are better, I am afraid that all our progress is going to disappear.
While as a woman there were some biases; in both of my work careers entry was not a problem. Having been an outdoorsy kid, I mostly found guys friends except ones who carried the badge of superiority and snobbery to all. But don’ t touch if not invited or I might hit back.
I attended a rally organized by NOW today. About 600 people on a busy street in front of a Target, so lots of traffic! Lots of signs supporting Ukraine, abortion rights, immigrants, LGBTQ+, and some very creative “anti” signs. One on my favorites: F-ELON.
Maybe instead of equality, we fight for superiority and settle for equality.
I’ve been fighting since the 60’s. Since I’m in my 70’s, I’d sure hate to see all progress slide down the drain before I leave.

I so agree with you.
IT's like its picked up speed in that way. It's horrible.
I know, I agree.
Love the world supported by the strong arms of women!
love the Stature of Liberty- you could quit your day job and sell posters and mugs of this!
I'd buy a print of the hijab wearing ladies - so true and so powerful.
Love, love, love this.
Thank you!
The two hijab wearing women make a powerful statement regarding female enslavement by various societies.
Thanks, Terry.
Nothing like being called “guys” on IWD!

I get that.
My programming is ancient, I bet you’re running on a newer operating system.
When they stop labeling restrooms Guys & Gals Guys & Dolls etc I will stop flinching at being called a guy by a non-guy.
I’m 74 so I grew up acutely aware of who was one of the guys, doing guy things.
I was groomed!

Haha!
Great commentary!

Yay! We all need to learn, me as well of course.
These are fabulous, actually pretty brilliant!
Thanks, Mary!
Powerful. Thank you, Liza. 👩❤️👩
Thank you, LInda.

As a woman did you EVER fee UNSAFE walking alone in a park or unlit neighborhood or walking down the street at night or anywhere, EVER?
