Did you see the full page Wall Street Journal ‘ad’ by Vanderbilt (Nashville) and Washington University (St. Louis) a few weeks back pre-capitulation. It angers me so much. We live in Nashville and have ties to Vandy, although both retired now. This ‘new’ chancellor of the last few years has faculty steaming. It was horrible, no consent from faculty to publish that!

Right now the ‘wusses’ seem to be reproducing. What a shame. They deserve to have alumnae/i withhold support.

Love the drawing! A lot of us probably have known couples with mixed allegiances. As always, thanks for some wit to temper the news which seems to get worse each day. Hooray for Harvard!!!

Great cartoon, the wife/CPA is finally sitting down to do our tax return, and I'm already in need of counseling.

Well...finally someone/thing/body/corporation is standing up to him! It's about time. Now it's our job to keep pushing back. Find your protest for this Saturday, April 19th! Dump is a monster. Rick and Stuart helped me process today's clown show in the Oval Office. https://substack.com/@stuartstevens/note/p-161329397?utm_source=notes-share-action&r=en0qs

Go, Harvard! precedents are coming up like daffodils. And shame on you, Jeff Bezos! You give the Space Age a bad name. Spent yesterday watching the final day of the Masters. Beautiful weather, azaleas in bloom, spectators in bright garments going back and forth in the far background like Chaucer's pilgrims. When I was a child we used to wade up Rae's Creek and run around on the old Berckmans Nursery grounds. Today our grimy little faces would be looking through the bars. Good to take time off from daily cares.

Pitchers gotta pitch, catchers gotta catch…(marriage counseling)

My sister, as is all of my family, is a crazy Red Sox fan. Her husband is a Yankee fan. Their marriage has only lasted because my brother-in-law (who is a great person, even if he is a Yankee fan) wisely does not ever rub it in when the Yankees are superior. My sister, on the other hand, . . . This year should be interesting with the Red Sox finally adding to their team and the Yankees having pitching issues.

Love this cartoon. Very whimsical and funny. Really, really hate that my tax dollars are being used to fund Marco Rubio's death squads and Kristi Noem's porn-flic auditions. Pissed off doesn't begin to describe it.

Oh thank you Liza for the baseball cartoon today, but I am a die hard St.Louis Cardinals fan although I would root for the Yankees over the Mets any day. I love a distraction because the news is sick. I was not unhappy that the all female crew flew a successful flight but it was clearly a publicity event and I share no love for a billionaire who has changed the WAPO so substantively.

I am sick of the daily news of the illegal acts of this administration and open defiance of lawful court orders. Letting in an autocratic leader of El Salvador while paying US dollars to hold immigrants illegally regardless of due process or status is wrong.

I challenge anyone to call their Congressman although in my case it’s becoming a daily exercise in futility, but I cheerfully ask what he will do to fight for democracy, uphold the rule of law and oppose the use of El Salvadoran prisons as punishment for immigrants and Americans.

So who can blame you for being frustrated? We all are. Yet, I am so very proud of Harvard. But I keep thinking this circus can't get any nuttier and then Bezos's publicity stunt. People are in bad shape in Kentucky with floods, and survivors of Helene are still digging out and trying to rebuild, and so many really needy people could use the money he's spending on this ridiculousness. Sometimes there are just no words. Thank God for things like baseball to ease the pain and thank God for the healing balm of your cartoons and insight.

I so admire your ability to crystallize what you observe both verbally and visually and with a human touch. I especially love the occasional typo/misspelling. Keeping it real! ☺️

Great cartoon. Already got my hot dog and soda, and, thankfully, don't need marriage counseling, partly because my wife and I are both Seattle Mariners fans.

Also a fan of another Substack writer, ex-Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin, whose remarks today on empathy were a welcome read.

Decidedly a fan of courageous people (like the president and faculty of Harvard) who stand up to sociopathic dictators, especially considering the huge risks involved; will they be the next ones shuffled off to a prison in El Salvador?

Decidedly not a fan of sending a bunch rich, privileged celebrities into space and trying to pass it off as some triumph for women. Next time, pick some... Oh, I don't know, schoolteachers, or small business owners, or... cartoonists, maybe. I'd love to see Liza's drawing of Earth from space.

Great cartoon. I don’t want anyone important (teachers, real astronauts) to be transported to space by Bezos, as I haven’t trusted the private sector since the Challenger disaster. Did they design a window in anyone’s space suit to show body parts? What a shame! Thank Goodness and the Heavens for baseball, basketball, football and soccer!

I loved the drawings of the couple- first intense, then calming, then communicating. I am a licensed social worker and often work with couples ,helping them lower the intensity so they can then have a communication. Intensity blocks intimacy. I have written a paperback book called Simple Therapy Snippets by Cynthia Wilcox,LICSW, Illustrations byThea Ernest. It is full of stories I have told and help I have given over 50+ years of practice. The advice about how to deal with intensity is great fun. I hope many of you might enjoy reading and looking at it.
