The Washington Post has a fascinating map today, here is the link. When you go to the map, you can zoom in to any area, or put a zip code in, and see how your neighborhood is donating. Do I see more blue on this map?
Political consultant and bon vivant James Carville thinks— no, he’s “certain”— that Kamala will win. He says it is shaping up to be a record turn-out election, and Harris has a “unified and electrified” coaliton. It’s very broad, too: from AOC to Dick and Liz Cheney! Plus, the Harris campaign has a lot of money. My 90 year-old stepmother also is sure Kamala will win, and I trust her judgement.
Harris is doing an event today on the Ellipse in Washington, the park just south of the White House where former President Donald J. Trump encouraged his supporters to march on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. I think that’s genius.
The Justice Department warned Elon Musk that his $1 million giveaway scheme may be illegal. May be? It is illegal to pay people to vote.
When questioned about General Kelly’s comments of Trump and Hitler, Gov of New Hampshire Chris Sununu said, “We’ve heard a lot of extreme things from Donald Trump, it’s kinda baked into the vote.”
This is what I don’t understand. Do we want the leader of the free world to be baked with slurs, anger and hate?
Today, I was invited to speak to the employees of the Redding Rancheria, an organization in northern California. I have never been to this region, have no idea who the people are around here. They are very friendly, I noticed in my 24 hours here. But it is a far from New York, and while they seemed to be listening and maybe enjoying it, there were so few laughs— only chuckles here and there. I showed the work of many women cartoonists, past and present. A few people spoke to me after and said they enjoyed it. But it’s still a puzzle to me why some audiences laugh and others don’t. That’s the nature of humor, I should know that!
I live drew for them at the beginning. First, two people in the audience:
Then I showed them how I draw from memory from something I saw. Three laughing women at breakfast:
Then, I told them a story about the wonderful waitress this morning, who made all of us in her little section of the hotel coffee shop feel like she was looking over us. She was so charming. That’s me on the left, as she encouraged me to eat a large breakfast.
My talk was titled “The Power Of A Line,” and I explained how drawing can be a way to share our lives and shine a light on others’ lives. And how humor can bring us together and make things better.
Thanks for being here, see you tomorrow!
Every word enlightened. All lines true, observations endorsed.
Sununu, as usual, is of course emblematic of these morally bankrupt pretenders.
My husband & I voted early today. I had never seen such a long line at the Board of Elections. It was so well organized, we were done in 30 minutes. This is very blue Cuyahoga county, hope we can balance out rural Ohio.
