Waiting in Yonkers yet again, I sketched these people waiting, across the track. You can see where I started the sketch on the left. The top of the wire bench was my first set of strokes and I could not get my fountain pen to work! You can see the scrithiness. I was forced to switch to a less interesting small ball point like pen; but I must say I like it too. It makes for a different feel than a fountain pen.
Then to my right, I captured these two below. They did not know each other. My sketch ended before I could finish it because our train arrived.
Then on the train, I had four stops until I had to get off, and drew this woman across from me.
Why use pen and paper instead of the iPad? This sketchpad I have is very small, so I can whip it out and not be noticed…..same can be true of the mini iPad, but I didnt have it with me. But frankly, I am also falling in love with paper and pen again, for now. The tactile nature of it, having a something not digital as a finished piece, and I love sketchbooks.
Thanks for being here, have a great afternoon or evening or night, wherever you are. See you tomorrow.
I hope one day you publish a book from your sketchpads.
Also, i have a nosy question.
When the New Yorker publishes anything, do they then own it in perpetuity?
Sounds like you love pens as much as I love pencils! 😄
