Waiting in Yonkers yet again, I sketched these people waiting, across the track. You can see where I started the sketch on the left. The top of the wire bench was my first set of strokes and I could not get my fountain pen to work! You can see the scrithiness. I was forced to switch to a less interesting small ball point like pen; but I must say I like it too. It makes for a different feel than a fountain pen.
I’ve wondered if people ever notice that you’re sketching them, and how they react. Have you ever felt threatened? Has anyone ever wanted to see your sketch and thanked you or expressed appreciation?
I think I did make it up! Although if my memory serves, in Peanuts, Charles Schulz used to use the work "scritch" when scratching Snoopy's head....am I dreaming that?
I hope one day you publish a book from your sketchpads.
Also, i have a nosy question.
When the New Yorker publishes anything, do they then own it in perpetuity?
Thank you, me too!
They do not own it, but we share copyright.
Sounds like you love pens as much as I love pencils! 😄
Pencils are great, too!

I have wondered that too.
See above! thanks, DL
Never felt threatened, no. Sometimes people notice, but not often. Or they choose not to say anything! I prefer to stay annonymous.
I love 'scrithiness'. Its onomatopoeia, sounds like it is! Did you make it up?

I'm envious! Some great writers have invented words. Lewis Carrol, for instance, invented "vorpal" sword (Alice in Wonderland).
Well, not sure I invented it!
I love people watching. Fun to do that from your perspective.
me, too! Thank you!
