Sitting on the platform at the Yonkers, NY train station again and decided to draw this man. There were three of us in the heated rectangle building on the narrow platform. It seems like an old structure, with lovely green walls and long windows. To get heat, one presses this button periodically.
I love the hand drawing - whoever did this took the time and did a better job depicting a hand than I have here. They even had braille (apologies that I did not depict the braille accurately).
Here is the man, sitting perched on a tiny ledge. No chairs in the structure.
And here is the video grab of the drawinga as I did it. Enjoy!
Off to the Athena Film Festival at Barnard College, can’t wait to see some great films. No politics today here, although the festival’s films are always political and feminist.
Happy Friday, see you tomorrow.
I love the train stations in Rhinecliff and Poughkeepsie… it annoys my son that I like getting there early to stroll through them, but he understands… I see the YONKERS (sorry, I always read YONKERS on all caps, I don’t know why) stop as it races by on the way to GCT or Penn, depending on the railroad and station… one day, I’m gonna go from the city to Yonkers and stroll around that station if only because I’ve never been. I’ve been warned against doing this by a bunch of old New Yorkers who always sorta scrunch up their faces in a “why the eff would you do that?” look… you know that look, right?!? 😀 Thanks for this drawing and now I’m gonna seek out that hand and warmer button…
Love the daily micro snapshots on life around us and the accompanying commentary. I've crossed the threshold into subscriber.
