People need periodic breaks from the horror and loss.

That just one more R couldn’t find the courage to vote no on one of the worst bills in decades is so depressing.

On a brighter note, I was in NYC last weekend and thought of who you might draw while I was riding the subway.

My Senator, Elizabeth Warren said they cheered in the Senate when the bill passed with Vance breaking the tie. Truly disgusting!

So hard to imagine these people were elected to represent us in governing our country.

A person named Patris in a comment wrote, "The BBB (that Bastard Blob’s Bill)." I told her I would credit her if I used it, but I hadn't planned to unless the Bastard Blob's Big Ugly Bill actually passed. Now, cruelly, it seems that it will pass, and the Big Bastard Blob can make an incoherent victory speech. I am beyond disgusted, sick, and revolted by many rethuglicon senators like Murkowski. They can argue that their first duty is to their constituents, and I suppose that's true, but what about their duty to the country, to humanity, to the powerless and poor who will be catastrophically affected by the passage of this atrocity? The "party of small government" is now the party of cruelty.

I love your drawing of the anonymous woman on the subway. Just an ordinary woman, a Noo Yawka, traveling somewhere on the train, relaxed, looking at her phone as people do. I hope she was having a lovely day and not obsessed with politics, like me.

Nobody is rooting for the expulsion of immigrants. We are rooting for the expulsion of illegal criminal invaders. Stop lying.

Edit: I am an immigrant myself. This kinda manipulation gets my hackles up.

Throughout Earth's long history of kingdoms and empires, the working people (peasants, serfs, farmers, laborers, conscripts, soldiers, servants ...) have paid for all the luxury and waste of royals, nobles, and clerics. They paid with their lives, their suffering, and deaths. Taxation, by whatever name, has been the method of theft. And, all that time, royals, nobles, and clerics have been exempt from taxation. They never paid for anything. They did nothing but spend. The beat goes on. It's not new. But, Americans born after WW II were promised a better world and most of us worked to get there. It was a dream, a worthy dream, and dreams are not bad. But watching our dream collapse catastrophically, day by day, gives us all the dry-heaves. Please pray that we do actually get to have a midterm election.

The point I would make to Senator Murkowski is that had she voted no on the bill, she would be supporting other Americans who are about to lose their healthcare, Medicaid, SNAP, and other benefits. She could have possibly received what she wanted so desperately, and she could have negotiated for her constituents anyway through future negotiations on behalf of all Americans, including those residing in Alaska, had she voted no. I hope this makes sense. I wonder what the future holds because Trump wants to sell off land, drill baby drill! If only she had watched Trump and Noem visit Alligator Alcatraz in Florida - with glee - the thought that this is in the United States of America is unconscionable. It is clear when someone is talking out of both sides of their mouth! She sold us out! The lady you drew was looking at her phone, and hopefully, it was filled with lovely memories that pop up on Facebook from time to time, or she was checking reservations for an upcoming vacation. I must confess that I looked at the news on my phone today. Sad, just sad. I am vacationing and camping on the St. Lawrence River at Swan Bay. I can see the ships go by, see Canada across the river, and it's peaceful out in my kayak, looking at the creatures of nature just going about their business - Canada geese, swans, blue herons, and more. What is striking is that there seem to be fewer campers. I'm sure it will fill up by the end of the week for the 4th of July. I do know tourism has taken a hit in this area. At least I don't have a TV to be glued to for breaking news stories like I do at home.

Thanks for the video of your drawing---you make it look so simple! What I like is seeing how few lines it takes to convey a real person---very interesting. (Why does that ring a bell from an old comedy show???) Happy Canada Day!

We’ve got to take a breath or our heads will explode at the audacity of anyone voting in favor of this catastrophe for so many.

You are heroic in maintaining your focus Liza.

hard to believe Lisa Murkowski voted for this. drilling in the Arctic, selling off Alaska's land- and who knows what else will be in the works. plus, not voting for the common good. a sad day for Alaska's residents.
