In the recording below, at one point I say “let your brain think.” That’s a funny thing to say, but what I meant was that for me, the creative process is about listening to your brain as it moves around and flits on various subjects. Even seemingly inconsequential things. As the writer Nora Ephron said, everything is copy. I know that for most of my day I am thinking about things—food, schedules, emails, worries— and most of it never really gets noticed by me. I get the emails done, and manage to eat, but I could also draw about those things. Try to notice where your mind goes and write it down. Or draw it.
Every week (almost) I will try to do a live thing and will share with you. Today is about ideas, and how I try to generate them. In the future, I will do what I did today, talk about stuff in this field, but then also sometimes I’ll draw and talk about things in the news and culture. I want to keep this fun and informal.
I do these live on Youtube, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.
Happy Thursday! Such gorgeous weather here, I hope it is for you.
Love this note. Odd how when we try to trace our thoughts to conclusion we (at least I) sound either like a cartoon character or the late queen of England... w/o doubt great advice: “Let your brain think”. Perfect
I know what this is! Since you were doing drawing meditation ( like walking meditation) and I know you are aware of the law that one cannot move if you have a cat on your lap... this is a person who is really done meditating but must keep on!!!!Perhaps he will reach enlightenment???
