I’m afraid the only way I know to make a powerful person feel uncomfortable is to live on the street and yell religious proverbs or start sneezing if I lose my Medicare benefits, but wait, I’ve never even dated a powerful man or even a man who regularly wears a suit. When my husband retired, I donated all his white t-shirts to a hospice. I know, it’s Saturday, but it’s good to be thoughtful on Saturday, too.
A LOT of us are feeling uncomfortable, and feeling more so every day, as another species of monster is nominated for an important government role. You know you're in trouble when you're relying on Senate Republicans to save you.
I am finding expressing my feelings causes discomfort. I've been asked to not be woke, ha! I need a T-shirt emblazoned with 'If You Don't Like Free Speech, Sit Elsewhere'.
I think we already do. And that impacted the voters who didn't vote as they did in 2020. Not active misogyny, not hating women, not wanting them to be homebodies--nice, liberal, educated view of women but also kind of uncomfortable when thinking about a woman in power. I call it misogyny lite. Any woman in a male oriented industry knows what I mean. Glass ceiling, wage disparity, mansplaining, interrupting....on and on and not really even conscious.
Been away at a conference. Three orange-man-free days. Pure bliss. Didn't mention anything uncomfortable and didn't hear anything uncomfortable. Everyone must have been warned
The "not even conscious" aspect is what bothers me most. Getting some kind of angry, "F--- you! I'm not sexist!" is bad enough, but "Huh? How is that sexist?" is even worse, demoralizing even.
Note that this was intended to be a reply to Susan Linehan's comment above, speaking of women in male-oriented industries... She ends with the phrase "not really even conscious".
Let's get clever and start dismantling the economy, that's where all this started; imagine if 50% of the world's population stopped providing free (think slave) labor. The economy would collapse overnight and we could reasonably demand a say in rebuilding it. What do we have to lose!
lovely illustration--as is......go Liza!!!! How true!!!! Lovely comments from all others...
And you might try other lines: ("She is here to quietly roll back your cloak of power...." Or: if this position does not work out, you might see if President Trump will hire you. He is hiring!!!!)
Perfect
That makes me laugh good!
Love it.

excellent, as usual. You have a unique knack of animating the moment! Thank you!

As always Liza, a poignant cartoon.

Love it! I had way too much of "powerful" men when I was working. They loved lording over women, especially those in professional positions.
