No wonder you couldn't sleep. I had to have a Southern Comfort in my Ensure last night after being bombarded with his nonsense games. Do it; rescind it. Do it; get everyone riled up; rescind it. Do it; be talked about near and far; then rescind it. It's a pattern. God only knows what is going on in the background while the media and the public are focusing on this ridiculousness. Do you really think the minds that are behind him (as he is not capable of thinking things through) are going to actually keep tariffs that will wipe out the stock market, where some of their quadrillions are working for them? I hate to sound like a conspiracy nut, but to me, this is all smoke and mirrors, while, as you reported, things like taking over the info on Federal programs, Medicare, and Social Security, are happening?
I needed some extra protein, and something that would calm me down so I could sleep. With this, I killed two "boids" with one stone. Wasn't exactly Ensure...but a protein drink like it. Not bad, really.
While this coup is going on in Washington and our Treasury is being hijacked, why isn't the Second Amendment's "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State..." being invoked and our Congress acting with courage to stop the destruction of our government?
If they aren't accountable as private citizens and not government officials, my question is this, can the government, the courts, seize the control of what has been taken, even given by Bessent, without Congress? An EO can't create an agency. Nor can Trump.
It has been stated we are in a post Constitutional era...Trump can't have it both ways. Smith's cases should never have been dropped. Trump would have had to get them dismissed all the way to the SCOTUS and that would have forced his hand in telling America the truth about the lawlessness and why. Again, can't have it both ways. Don't obey in advance, as Professor Snyder says.
No benefits go out this month things will change and change fast.
The goal has never been THIS...read about Curtis Yarvin, Peter Theil, the PayPal Mafia, Opus Dei, Knights of Malta (Alina Habba's father was a past head)....it is scarier than last night's read. Way scarier. Oh, and read about Russ, the Creepy guy, Vought. He's got an obsession with the LGBTQ+ community and not in the way you'd think.
It is really important that anyone who has a R Congressperson and/or Senator CALL their offices, and ask them (WTF) they are doing about this hostile take over of all of our government data by people who have no official role in the government, no security clearance, and no articulated agenda. There is nothing more urgent for members of Congress to address than this RIGHT NOW. Calling is better than emails. Emails are better than mail. Visiting their office in person is the best option is you are able to do that. Take your friends and family along too. Make the staff uncomfortable, but be polite - they didn't ask for this either, and chances are they do not really know what is going on with Musk, but they really need to know.
You can report cybercrime at https://www.ic3.gov/. I've filed a complaint about Musk and his kiddie squad (by name) for illegally hacking into information about me.
Here is a template for the actual complaint part. I stole this from the person who clued ME into the site.
"Subjects, led by Musk, unlawfully seized electronic data and computer systems within the U.S. Treasury Dept, OPM, and GSA. Subjects are apparently carrying out a massive personal data breach of those systems.
My personal data, as a [retired person on Social Security], is contained in those systems. Sensitive info likely breached includes name, address, social security number, bank account number, and health care insurance data.
Subjects are not government employees or authorized contractors.”
Is Trump really in charge? Does the “stable genius” actually understand what he is doing and its consequences? Perhaps he's no more calling the shots than Ronald McDonald did.
Liza, I posted this on FB yesterday. Thought I’d share here, too:
Friends, I didn’t sleep well last night and I probably won’t again until I share this. I have written here about my long career with the National Park Service, as just one of two million federal non-partisan civil servants who carry out the diverse work that supports our nation.
Now there is a true crisis for those public servants, and as a result for all those they serve and the nation itself. Read this testimony from a person I know, who I will not identify for their own protection (bracketed explanations are added by me):
____
“I just talked to my friend who’s SES [Senior Executive Service] in another department. It is worse, way worse than we know. All departments/agencies have politicals in place that are venture capitalist types — doing what VC’s do to companies. Burn it all down and rebuild smaller, leaner or not at all, and cash out.
My friend heard that they have a target to cut $2.7B[illion] a DAY and they have a contest for who cuts the most each day.
They are focused on cutting FTE [full-time equivalents--employees], contracts, grants. They already have plans to consolidate agencies, and then they plan to sell government buildings and lands.
Beyond return-to-work policy [as opposed to remote work], they plan to end flex schedules to add to the push to get people to leave. And my friend believes that next Friday (the day after the Fork in the Road deadline) [the infamous memo sent last week to all government employees asking them to resign by February 6], they will fire all probationary employees - all of them [these are newer employees who have not yet served their full probationary period]. And then shift to other tactics from there.
They’re not worried about the legality of things, they know they have two years of gutting and are testing what they can get away with.
They are planning a radically different version of American government.
My friend said it is awful every day - they don’t value public service - they are focused on the bottom line as if the government was a business.
My friend has decided to retire next week (not resign!!). My friend urged me to make sure we were ready for the next phase. It is soul crushing. Hoping we are somehow spared during the early fast slashing that is underway. Congress and the American people need time to see and respond to what is in essence a corporate hostile takeover happening.”

As Heather Cox Richardson described yesterday, this is an effort to destroy the federal government. Moreover, it may end the non-partisan civil service, who Elon Musk recently described as “the opposition.” Reporting is increasingly making it clear that much of what is described above is let by Musk and his lieutenants, none of whom have gone through standard security, conflict of interest, or personnel rules.
There is a lot of inside reporting on this being shared by Alt National Park Service, which I encourage you to follow. What can we do? Call your senators and member of Congress and ask them to investigate Musk and his staff who are operating through DOGE (the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, which is not authorized by Congress).
Sleeping? Yes, I am. Nightmares? Yes, having those also. Lord Orange's shenanigans are far less stressful than life in a combat zone. Therefore, I view life today as a tragic comedy written by a group of clowns living in a sanitarium.
Trying to sleep, that is a real problem. I’m afraid it is going to get to the point where we will be facing civil war. Those Maga folks who don’t know, really don’t WANT to know. Most of my family included. But I keep on trying. As to the “main stream media”, they seem to have sold out. A number of well respected people quit the Washington Post and formed The Contrarian” which I am reading on BlueSky (bsky.app) and recommend. Heather Cox Richardson is a brilliant writer and a bright light in this darkness. Liza, thank you for the drawings and the posts.

Interesting cocktail concept. Next time I'm in a bar I'll order a KittyLite.

Hmmm…..Southern Comfort, sounds good. And maybe a bit of Janice Joplin. I fully agree with your post.

Because they are at Mexican border?
But with. Hegseth in charge of the military, he might have it attack Congress, no?
I hope Musk gets out of our business soon. Wondering what Congress or courts could do.

gets worse by the day, anyone who thinks this is on a path to destroy our constitution and to be run by Musk (his puppet T rump)
