Yes, all of the above!

I’m trying to bake with sourdough again, and am even baking with the discard! I made some delicious crackers yesterday, and think I may never buy crackers again!

I’m also meeting with some friends tomorrow to come up with a plan to protect the immigrants in my town (we are a majority minority community, and most of the immigrants are from Mexico).

Everyone can do something. It will help.

Thank you!!

I’m sourdough baking too. Could you share your cracker recipe please? I’m in the mindset of avoiding big bis food.

I think if you protested and organized through the first wave of this circus you should be able to sleep through this one… with dogs… a big pile of dogs. Sleep, long walks…

A thousand small acts are harder to put down than one single large event. The US is a large land mass, keep your actions small and local. Dispersed actions are harder to monitor and police, plus doesn't get national coverage. Be low key, keep the slogans simple, inject humor whenever possible. I am not against large demonstrations they draw needed attention, but only last for a short time; to protect the vulnerable your acts must meet community needs.

As far as sleep goes, I recommend taking it slowly. Yes, 12 hours twice a day should do the trick. The problem may be with nightmares of an orange monster destroying America.

I'm going to stay awake the whole time! Orange Kool-Aid spiked with 5-Hour Energy shots should do the trick! When the hallucinations start, I'll look to them for wisdom and guidance: sort of like the "anti-Christ", they will be the Anti-Trump, the Anti-Elon, the Anti-Matt, the Anti-JD, and so on. Their faces will appear in piles of poop from the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse...

I have checked in with everyone to find out how they are coping. I had surgery last Wednesday for breast cancer and that has been a big distraction. My husband is a reluctant caregiver and I put a lot of effort into coming up with requests. I am taking classes from the local community college emeritus program in art and technology. I think that I am in a state of denial about the election. It is too upsetting to be true!

My Goldendoodle puppy is loving all of the attention I put on her. She is happily oblivious to anything other than food and walks and belly rubs. She ingested THC on a walk a couple of weeks ago. She was stoned for at least three days. I am in awe of her.

I read the news about Trump's nominations as though it was science fiction.

Elaine, you are amazing! You’re dealing with breast cancer and you STILL see the hilarity in the life swirling around you. Your puppy’s accidental three-day “trip” made me laugh out loud. Thank you for that. (I’m glad she’s okay.)

All will be useful, though "march somewhere" brings up fears of a gazillion Kent States if the Extremes really do think that "emergency powers" includes shooting protestors and that no one needs a warrant anymore for arrests and searches.

Hard to decide what to do. I'm posting informational memes from various sources on Substack using FB, Instagram, Threads and Bluesky. Those are being well received. I'm being very selective about my news sources and limiting my time pursuing major media. I'm working on curating my huge photography collection with a focus on what I would like to send to Fine Art America and Dreamstime. Oh and watching ISU Figure Skating Grand Prix. This involves competitors from all over the world. The sportsmanship and kindness is a blessing to watch. There are never any boos, just applause and appreciation for the athletes.

I'm going to start by putting some effort into voting and election reforms: Fair Vote (https://fairvote.org/our-reforms/) is working to establish ranked-choice voting and the Fair Representation Act. Also, with Congressman Jamie Raskin as an inspiration and a portal, I'm going to see how I can help with reforms to the Electoral College.

Locally (in the Seattle area) I am going to join with activists I already know in doing whatever I can to alleviate homelessness. Last week I attended the Mass for the Deceased Homeless at St. James Cathedral, where we commemorated the deaths of 359 people who died on our streets; at the end of the Mass, the names of all 359 people were read aloud, as the funeral bell tolled. (Among the names: two listed as "Baby [Smith, Johnson]"; two listed as "Unidentified Human Remains.") It was unutterably heartbreaking, and coldly infuriating. I can do something here; I can do more than I have on this issue. (Note that St. James does not just have a commemorative Mass and then call it good; we also provide over a hundred meals on weeknights, shelter four nights a week, and many other services, year 'round, to people experiencing poverty, homelessness, mental health issues and so on.)

Lots o f good idea there, Liza. Let me suggest another: Let's pay attention to what happens to immigrants in our own area, documented and undocumented both. I don't think we can assume that trump's Immigration Gestapo is going to do careful research, and almost worse if they do, because that means they're breaking up families (immigrant parents who might not be documented snatched away, while their children who were born here and are therefore citizens are left on their own or in camps or cages). This is a cause where white volunteers can probably make a big difference, not just a symbolic one. Am keeping my own eyes open and contacting others, quietly, here in Berkshire County, Mass. -- which not long ago was close to lily white, but now has a lot of Latino immigrants, and also local communities that are mostly Brazilian or African immigrants; and probably others I don't know about yet.. As much sorrow as we white American might face, others face way more.

How wonderful!!! And inspiring Liza ....hmmmmm---maybe write this up as a book?????. a fun way to "build the beloved community" as Martin would remind us.....

.Invite written suggestions from readers and you can draw up sketches...

Possibilities might begin with:

--All the wonderful sketches you offer us so far--and the many more your stunning mind offers....

-- bicycle paths and solar trains that begin in Maine and extend to Florida and then California......

and here are a few more

---Musk and Donald and a few more heading out in one of Musk's rockets--this time for Mars.

(Return 2028 or 2032 to see Kamala harris and Michelle Obama give their inauguration speeches)

-- CEO's of oil companies might later join them on Mars ..... or perhaps stay here and build barrier walls around cities endangered by rising seas they have handily created.......

( Yes a few ideas about Peacefully Dismantling the Trump/Billionaire Club are welcomed)

If you sketch a book we will buy it and the project will be exciting and rewarding...and donate the income to a Food Bank etc.

Words from Vermont........ where we are already organizing to support the workers who work 7 days a week to assist on our dairy farms
