Fun to see how cartoons/drawings and captions and real life come together in other peoples brains. I find it most interesting when I think “I could never have come up with that! “
Who knew that someone who draws cartoons could draw such a range of emotions out of one reader/watcher/sensemaker looking at your images? You thrill me with the freedom of movement in 1 woman (this week), touch my heart with a picture of a person holding a peace dove that needs no words (weeks ago), fuel my anger and determination with your images reminding us of those who would destroy our democracy (often), and (today), connect me with the odd intimacy of a woman and her horse eating together. I'd print you in my newspaper any day--if I only had a newspaper!
'Seeing Things' for me is a backstage pass into the universe of cartooning. Thank you for sharing yourself with this mere mortal who can barely print readable block letters.
Liza! Your Substack posts are a highlight of my day. I love learning about your craft…where do all of those submissions end up?! Glad to know they may be published down the road. You get me—or do I get you?
We are cyclists 🚴♀️🚴♂️ so loved the bike cartoon! ✔️Electrolyte drink/cocktail holder ✔️phone-home holder ✔️🫑 pepper bell to ding-ding at all those too-serious roadies ✔️bag/mini-armoire to accommodate ensembles for any weather.
Also loved the simplicity of “eating together” and its message. Nourishing food, perhaps some wine, music(no news) …and an animal friend.
I like the idea of a (ahem) catamount in the first one. And that you get to show whatever you want here. And that WE get to give feedback. Seems like win-win all around.
Loved them all but especially the bike! I’ve thought about what it would be like to rent, for advertising purposes, a sign that flashes through the red light facing backwards. Or tow a big banner like planes fly at the beach, but I would have to be pretty fast to keep that going. I’ve seen the planes drop them (on a grass landing strip!) then do a steep turn to pick up the next banner from a suspended hook. Kind of a one-plane relay. It must be demanding work on one’s body…. Could they drop a tired pilot then pick up a refreshed one from the hook? Just riffing.
It seems in the arts and in life, one must deal with constant rejection....in the arts more so. But I think we develop a rejection muscle and the stronger it gets, the less the rejection bothers us. It's like "OK, this didn't work....(funny it works for me)....but I enjoyed creating it. So maybe next time." I love your horse and friend eating together. Sweet. xoxox And I thought the bike toon...especially the gluten free snack holder was clever.
I like the bike cartoon the best,
The impossibility of riding the bike with do many attachments boggles my mind 😂🛵🙃😳
It's a magic bike. So, no worries :D

Thanks, Liza.
Thank you, Royce!
Pretty often see that kind of outfitting on electric bikes lately, including mine minus the cocktails :-)

I've ordered the elephant bag from your shop. Where can I get an elephant!?
Elephants sold separately. No shoplifting at the zoo :D
Damn! 😂
hahahaha!
The bicycle drawing really gave me a chuckle. It is so true!

eating together is more fun
Yes, yes it is :D

really like the bicycle one. The sunset clouds works better for me without the caption.
Any chance I could purchase a print of the bicycle, preferably signed?
Sure! email me! My name at gmail.
Cap to a crazy day at the fun house--where Fun is King!
