Always such thoughtful, illustrated musings. Thanks

You are remarkable in your work for a reason. So glad for the insights you offer. Smiling at the clown car while shaking my head at the dark absurdity of these days.

This too will pass. We've been here before. I took some screen shots of cartoons Herb Block created when going after Joseph McCarthy. I couldn't get them to load in this comments spot but I am sure you are familiar with his work. He was fearless and helped us see reality instead of the fearful lies McCarthy was spewing for his own benefit. I see you like Block. We need to laugh.

Freelance or not, you are practicing your art at the highest of levels. As a retired journalist and writer, I so enjoy seeing inside your head, if I can be colloquial.

Love the cartoons as always--especially the clown car! And thanks for sharing the insight into your exposed position as a free lancer. This status troubles: no real contracts or security?

Today's Republican party is both nutty as you note Liza (think MJ Greene) and also profoundly regressive.(Think beyond Trump) Many "quiet Republicans" want to roll back the clock to before FDR and give corporations unfettered power and position (see Clarence Thomas and Exxon Mobil etc. about this).

Care and praise for you and all open, honest souls at the New Yorker. Would be great to see the magazine explore this its own history and frailties and then support union protections for writers and illustrators alike.....May ye organize--someday soon.

Unions bring lasting needed advances especially when they champion the progressive voices of their members. Go Liza go! And unions can be vital in our efforts to contain Trump, MJ Greene, C Thomas, Elon Musk, Bezos and more. Thanks again Liza

Well I don't know why I came here tonight

I've got the feeling that something ain't right

I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair

And I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs

Clowns to the left of me

Jokers to the right

Here I am stuck in the middle with you

Hakeem Jeffries for Seaker is my choice

Peace to all

I think the sigh says it all.

Everyone loves cats, even Republicans. Why don't they elect a cat Speaker? I agree with the sigh from the White House. Two things that made me happy today: No cavities, and your work. Thank God for small miracles.

On edge... humor helps us both see it more proportionately and ease off the edge a bit. Thanks!

So interesting, the different approaches to political cartoons. I especially like the indirect style; attack journalism has never enlightened me.

Me, neither! Although good ones are really good--do you recall Herblock? He was so skilled.

No. But my wife does; she loves that he made it on to Nixon's enemies list!

Just got to breathe and look up at the unknown even vision ahead in the dark confusing chaos. But this comment not some rosey uplift - but it is about knowing the grim to cherish the hope and light we all know and feel everyday. 🙏

Thanks. I don't know if anyone noticed, but the commenter in that cartoon is a woman! On purpose.
